Jeff S and Jeff H hit the Jeep trail today. We left Ouray at 9:00 and made it back around 5:00 today.
Imogene Pass is a 17.5 mile point to point trail that connects Ouray to Telluride Colorado. The trail is a moderate trail mainly used for off road driving. It is the second highest drivable pass in Colorado. The road is rocky, steep and narrow in places and passing can be dangerous. This is a 4-wheel drive only road.
You pass a couple of old mines. Tomboy mine and old Townsite, once one of the most active mining towns in the state.
High point on the drive is 13,114 feet. Very windy and cold today.
We did see all kinds of animals and wild flowers starting to bloom.
We stopped in Telluride for lunch then took the Last Dollar Highway into Ridgway then back to Ouray.
Lots of pics so they may take multiple tries to get them posted.
