Jeff and I struck out yesterday and made our way to Silverton and then decided to go up to Animas Forks which is a mining settlement that started in the late 1800’s. The documentation there said that the settlers stayed there during the winters and that they had INDOOR outhouses. Isn’t that called an INHOUSE? But, we thought how smart that was so they didn’t have to go out during the brutal winters. The William Duncan House was 2 story and built in 1879. William Duncan his wife and family came from Pennsylvania when William was 27 years old. They had several children and since he came from Pennsylvania he decided to include some Victorian elements into his home. It was really a nice home for the time. Being able to go inside these homes was an amazing experience. Also, when you think the scenery can’t get any prettier, it does. It’s just beautiful out here.
