We walked downtown yesterday with Jeff2 & Kim2 for the Ouray 4th of July Parade. It was such a great time and with a town of less than 1,000 people the turnout was HUGE. We estimate about 5,000 people were at the parade. It lasted about an hour and it was one gigantic WATER FIGHT! The firefighters and different people in the parade sprayed water on the spectators and the spectators defended themselves! They had trash cans and buckets full of water and water shooters to fire back at them. It was hilarious! They then had sack races and other old timey games for the kids at the park. The most shocking thing that happened today was when 2 F16 fighter jets buzzed the parade route by coming right between the two mountains Ouray is nestled between on Hwy 550. They were zigzagging through the mountains and were well below the mountain tops. The one picture is when the 2nd one was on the way back up. It was much closer than the picture shows. Such a great Independence Day celebrating our freedom and remembering all of those that fought for us so that we can have it.
