Relaxing in the Keys

We have truly been relaxing to the fullest extent!  We had breakfast the other morning at Henrietta’s.  Take a look at that huge cat head biscuit.  Yes I said “cat head biscuit”.  There is truly such a thing.  Cathead biscuits are a Southern staple whose name refers to their large size (about as big as a cat’s head). The dough for this hand-rolled biscuit recipe is made by incorporating flour into the wet ingredients, instead of the reverse.

The picture of Scooter laying his head on the green and white pillow is special to us.  Carlee Lyons (our friend’s dear daughter) personally made this pillow for me before she left to move back to NH.  I love it and as you can see, Scooter does too.  We went to Snook’s last night to see the sunset, but it was a bit too early for us…so we headed over to Sharkey’s for wings and to watch the dive boats come in.  Jeff went out last night and threw the reel a couple of times at the dock at the RV Park, but the water was a bit rough.

Brad and Courtney are driving down later tonight, so you will get to see some other smiling mugs besides ours.  We have a good weekend planned so we can’t wait to share it!

Fishing..fishing..relaxing

Not much to report.  Jeff’s been fishing, fishing, but no catching!  I’ve been handling the relaxation part of this trip!!  I handle that pretty well!!  The weather has been sunny and about 85 degrees.  We can’t complain at all!!  We are loving life!

Trip to the Florida Keys 2/13/19

After we made it home from Colorado, the only other trip we have taken was when we left the Sunday before Hurricane Michael (before we knew he would be so devastating to our area).   We stayed in Helen GA a week and then the clean up began back home.  We haven’t been able to leave since, so this week we made our way to the Florida Keys.

We are in a little campground on mile marker 96 called Key Ventures @96.  Great little spot on the water. We gladly left some cooler weather in North Florida and headed out on Sunday, 2/10. We stopped in Homosassa Springs for two nights and then Koreshan State Park in Estero for one night before we made it to this little park. Yesterday we settled in and got Jeff’s bike ready for Scooter. You can see the picture of the classy carrier we have for him.

Today we visited Founder’s Park in Islamorada, which was an incredible park. Took a walk, visited the marina and the dog park area. Next weekend there’s the 24th Annual Gigantic Nautical Flea Market at the park which we will go to. We stopped for lunch at an authentic Cuban restaurant. It was delicious and we will go back. We also went to John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo this afternoon (about 4 miles from us) and it’s such a wonderful state park. We will go back tomorrow and have a picnic, kayak and enjoy the day. More pictures to come later.

**Interesting tidbit. In Koreshan State Park, as we backed into our RV spot the rear tires of the RV just sank to the frame. I honestly thought the muffler was going to go under. We called a tow truck and Jeff didn’t feel so bad when they told him that they have to tow people all of the time out of that rv park because it’s so soft. That particular tow driver had just been there the day before. Poor Jeff…I think he was feeling bad. I know I was feeling bad because I was giving him the direction to come back. Hey, that’s what Coachnet (RV Roadside Assistance) is for. But, all in all it’s been an excellent trip! Much more fun in store the next two weeks!

Til we blog again!

8/29 – 9/2/2018 Tim & Teresa’s Visit

On 8/28 Teresa and Tim flew in from PCB.  It was so great to see them considering we see them every couple of days at our condo.

8/29 Tim and Jeff hiked Horsethief Trial and Teresa and I lounged around until the afternoon when the guys got back.  We headed for a walk up town for some shopping and a great hamburger at Maggie’s.   We ended the night with a walk around the Riverwalk.

8/30  We drove over to Telluride and enjoyed the gondola ride.

8/31 About a 6 hour ride with 11 other jeeps up Engineer Pass and ended up at Animas Fork.  From there, we went to Silverton and enjoyed some Smedley’s ice cream.

9/1 For the first day of September we decided to hike up Box Canon Falls and Cascade Falls for some beautiful views and some great rock finds.

9/2  Teresa and I enjoyed a walk around the Riverwalk with Scooter, while the guys looked for their next project.

Thank you two for coming to visit!  We loved the time we spent together!

8/29/2018 Tim and I hike Old Horsethief Trail

We hit the trail early hiking Old Horsethief Trail. This trail takes you by a couple of old mines and a huge blowout that looks like a giant wash out. The trail gets steep and narrow for the first couple of miles. After this the trail is almost easy.

We did a lot of rock hounding and a little mining for gold. We made it back down without falling off the mountain with a pocket full of rocks and maybe a flake of gold.

It was a good day and the weather was perfect. Tim did great on his first day hiking.

8/24/18 Chief Ouray Mine Trail.

Brad and I did this trail today.  It is rated as a difficult trail. 3D6527FC-C5C2-432A-97B2-5ED56AC5673713B18103-986B-4C7E-831F-FCFBC405926B8406F93E-5034-48EC-A8CB-8EA2CB1099683A5EECB3-2E7F-4593-987B-AAADB50B6836D454B07C-3C24-4F2B-8C3D-B2B8B52A0DB32EC539B5-C8DB-4874-AB3F-88FF5FCB4AC05F45CA85-0213-43FE-B76D-0A8B756C3A17CE34ACA5-CE26-4EE6-A388-3F6BC85FB515E0FAD3BA-34FF-40D4-89C9-39104A53F769FF178D02-9E59-4067-88FC-E3F1F12546B8A1196072-FD2D-4B61-B226-0AEDF3A949B6671EF1DE-8F99-4250-A995-810B2C49EC1CF36118C1-FE72-45B7-8E6F-5D34C12ACDF92BCB4B22-EBDC-4FD0-BDBD-BB15B4840C747B070E34-E973-4682-8EBC-A3F9FAAF43F4F807FB7A-A6E8-46D3-B39F-303254C131212D5612D5-7BB9-412A-8BB0-75A4ED8355A1B8F1A332-8589-49C0-8314-19DE4DC4295D9A49FC63-C193-46B2-BEC2-8A92A89995CCE5759499-6399-4916-A6D5-410B4DFC7CAFB8EBC11B-B07B-4AF3-9BF2-69D117141D06DB18FEF9-214B-462C-9679-B5638F4AC122533F3673-99A9-4C85-8C78-041C7483437C219B7717-B817-4804-93E4-F3C4346D077DDAF42C04-D4D0-4FEB-8C64-31742B232A02F7D42F96-1F5F-44EF-93D4-CA6074B1B3076C074029-D9C4-4772-8EC6-4C14DBF24EB162BD5E80-0C35-47B4-8EA5-DBF6F30ABCBE303B8DCC-359F-45B9-9723-34359D8E5BEC495D8B2C-DB97-435F-A9C0-F4CAB32B718B01D131B3-8D99-4B52-B608-E73E2A167EF3772C1830-0289-4E3F-B551-50BD01142E59C028B702-759F-4974-A7C1-8A63ACC7BDED155F0B8C-8ED6-4122-9701-121B48F44CD3AA7DF45B-B151-4A4D-B025-5E227C8A7F1BE2E58A94-8C92-42F1-8C29-42E9602F23FF1AFBE9B1-651D-474D-B74F-8E55B38A2CBA3DEE2FAD-7F4E-457B-8C2C-E80F5881709441185FBE-86F5-481F-BAAB-8378789DDA9124D47BFD-DB76-4255-B626-F992083C6E1DB691C1BE-FC73-4D21-B72F-8114D2CBA92151450B6A-86C1-4406-93A9-31896FF0A6D412885554-B143-47AE-AE37-9A5ABAAFB3794BAEC4F9-93DC-4EE0-B9AC-C40DBDEF0BBD12B1D354-B7BD-4981-9DB5-83A9DB2AABE0B0B627FE-0957-4692-AB66-3EFDF16A2AED632B0515-C933-4D68-AF0B-F19A3674D942724A47E0-ECBD-4225-BB22-C0F7F9AA408CB3C60E3C-A253-4713-9AED-CF91A5BF2862087F4DD7-E7ED-4AF3-B324-217FFE67F08F3E5D84C2-24AC-449B-AB4A-37770CEF03B3271EA6F1-39F7-4B3B-9678-B354C8EE6EE039598297-594E-4CE3-B95C-FBFE963AC92DAE5C9F73-6588-49FC-8582-3719305F5965D1D3DB27-42E6-4C62-A911-DEFE7ED7684354407590-EA12-46BF-8762-72C5AAA818FB1F1E66C2-7252-4185-BC5A-3AEA3C9838D70570E068-0C7A-4AAD-B21D-F13184B67D8216DA9834-BABF-4628-9B58-E3457A9FA2AD64126881-12C2-49BC-8821-328FC9F5AA2423246848-994A-412D-8AAB-1B23AA977E542636A527-895A-41ED-8D22-245F7CCBC4820DA4C927-FA41-4329-8CDF-BCC6C343C1F6052989A9-3243-451E-9EA5-47769BDABF13C89D7048-542F-4E8B-A1E5-0C1D356B6CFA
