Imogene Pass 6/14/18
Jeff S and Jeff H hit the Jeep trail today. We left Ouray at 9:00 and made it back around 5:00 today.
Imogene Pass is a 17.5 mile point to point trail that connects Ouray to Telluride Colorado. The trail is a moderate trail mainly used for off road driving. It is the second highest drivable pass in Colorado. The road is rocky, steep and narrow in places and passing can be dangerous. This is a 4-wheel drive only road.
You pass a couple of old mines. Tomboy mine and old Townsite, once one of the most active mining towns in the state.
High point on the drive is 13,114 feet. Very windy and cold today.
We did see all kinds of animals and wild flowers starting to bloom.
We stopped in Telluride for lunch then took the Last Dollar Highway into Ridgway then back to Ouray.
Lots of pics so they may take multiple tries to get them posted.
6/14/2018 – 3 Girls on a Hike
The guys went jeeping today, so Kim2 and Chaunna and I took off to the Amphitheater Campground to hike Baby Bathtubs and part of the Portland Trail (I think). It was about a three hour hike! Lots of chatting and laughter, that’s for sure. Kim2 and Chaunna and their husbands are also workampers in the park. They are both full-time RVer’s and educate us about their travels regularly. Great friendships are being built. We always enjoy our time together!! Enjoy the pics!!
6/12/18 What are the odds?
So we decided to travel to Grand Junction today. There’s a little mall there and we wanted to have lunch and go to the mall. Low and behold, some friends of ours from our condo in Panama City Beach take a right while we were sitting at a red light in Delta, CO. We notice them because they have a rolly house (RPod) and two kayaks usually on their truck. So when the light turned green, we started following them and I started taking pics. Then when we got beside them I was still taking pictures, and I took the phone down and they recognized us. We pulled over and had a great reunion with Jen and Pat. We enjoy their company at our condo, but especially enjoyed it today as we haven’t seen anyone from home since May 13th. Took some pictures of this chance meeting. Seriously, what are the odds??
6/11/18 Morning Walk
We walked into Ouray via the Riverwalk this morning. Took a few pics to share. It’s such a nice walk and the temp and humidity are perfect. The pool is the Ouray Hotsprings.

6/9/18 Planting Tree
Today we volunteered to help the Ouray Beautification Committee plant trees by the riverfront next to the RV Park. It’s a lot different planting trees in Ouray. It takes an excavator to dig the hole because the ground is so dry and there are so many rocks. Then you have to create a rock burm around it. Then top soil, then plant the tree, then put a big bladder sac around it to slowly drip water for two weeks. Then someone at the park will fill the bladder sacs up. It sure is a lot easier in Florida.

The last ones
Of engineer pass for today.
The little animals in the pics are Marmot’s. They are like a giant ground squirrel. Also woodchuck and groundhog.

Guess what?
More Jeep pics because Kim says no one wants to see them.
From Kim: I said people don’t want to see 100 pictures of the jeep trip. Just pick the best!
